USA and Venezuela Tension: Tension is rising between America and Venezuela. This tension has created a situation of war. America has deployed ten F-35 fighter jets to warn the enemy country in case of any war between the two countries.
US President Donald Trump has given a strict order on Friday, saying, 'If a Venezuelan F-16 fighter jet flies over US territory and threatens US security, it will be shot down immediately.' It is worth noting that Venezuelan F-16 fighter jets have been seen flying close to US Navy ships. Recently, the US military targeted a Venezuelan boat on charges of carrying drugs. 11 people were killed in this attack. Since then, relations between the two countries have deteriorated. Trump has given the military a free rein if the situation worsens.
Tough sanctions on Venezuela over drug charges
The White House has announced that the US is sending 10 F-35 stealth fighter jets to Puerto Rico. Earlier, the US Navy had deployed ships and thousands of troops to the southern Caribbean. The US is imposing tough sanctions on Venezuela, accusing it of drug trafficking. Trump recently said, "We are strongly opposed to drugs. We do not want drugs to take the lives of our people." Venezuela's notorious group Train de Aragua has become a center of narco-terrorism.
Ready for talks: Maduro
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has rejected the US allegations and said that the report Trump is giving is baseless. Today, Venezuela is free from coca cultivation and is also running a campaign against drugs. Our differences should never reach the point of military conflict. Venezuela is ready to talk, but we want respect.
Trump has made allegations before.
During his first term, Trump had leveled various charges against Maduro and Venezuela, including narco-terrorism, corruption, and drug trafficking. He recently increased the reward for Maduro's arrest to $50 million. On the other hand, Maduro has accused the US of plotting a power change.
US-Venezuela tensions
Venezuela bought about 24 F-16A/B fighter jets from the US in 1982. These jets have served as the backbone of the Venezuelan air force for decades. Since 2006, the US has stopped supplying spare parts and weapons to Venezuela. The reason behind this ban was Venezuela's growing friendship with Iran and Cuba. After that, the maintenance and upgrading of the F-16s were difficult. So, Venezuela bought Su-30MK2 fighter planes from Russia.
